Ritsumeikan Moriyama Junior and Senior High School is located in Moriyama, Shiga prefecture.
Shiga prefecture is just east of Kyoto and we have a long history here.
Lake Biwa is located in the middle of Shiga prefecture. As the biggest freshwater
lake in Japan and one of the oldest lakes in the world, lake Biwa is famous for its
beautifull scenery and local ecosystems.
From Kyoto, it takes about half an hour to reach Moriyama by train, and one hour from Osaka.
Lake Biwa is the biggest lake in Japan, and it has over four million years of history.
It provides rich habitat for more than one thousand species of animals and plants, and provides us so much to learn about.
Taking advantage of this environment, all the 1st Grade junior high school students visit Lake Biwa to observe plants and animals and learn about the nature and ecosystems there.
