We study together with long-term exchange students from around the world.

Our school welcomes long-term (for a few months up to one year) exchange students from around the world. The exchange students attend classes together with our students in the same classrooms, while receiving Japanese lessons to improve their Japanese language ability. They also often have opportunities to give presentations about their home countries to the class. Many exchange students join club activities and enjoy sports and cultural activities together with our students.

A Message from our Japanese Teacher

Dear our future friends,

At Ritsumeikan Moriyama Junior & Senior High School, we would like not only to study with exchange students, but also to make friends with them and enjoy a variety of activities together. We would like to offer as many chances as possible to have new experiences and we will continued to support exchange students as much as possible.

1. What you can do at our school

You will attend many classes together with your Japanese classmates. You will also have Japanese lessons (5 to 10 hours per week). Many exchange students try to take the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. There was a student who won a famous Japanese speech contest too!

2. Events as part of Japanese lessons

As part of Japanese lessons, exchange students go on tours to feel Japanese culture and history. Since our school is located in Kansai area, we often visit Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka. The furthest place we visited is Himeji-castle.We have also offered opportunities for exchange students to try on Yukata (traditional Japanese summer clothes), cook Japanese food, and introduce food from their countries.

3. Interaction with local people

There is an international exchange festival in March in Moriyama-city where our school is located. Exchange students often participate in the festival and enjoy experiencing tea ceremony and flower arranging. They also participate as volunteers. The city international exchange organization also conducts a bus tour every year and exchange sessions. These sessions are great opportunities for exchange students to interact with local people.

4. Message

We have welcomed many exchange students to our school. We try to plan and focus on the experience they want to have during their time in Japan. Exchange students encounter exciting, unique challenges and fun experiences during their stay with us, and we learn so much from them! We would like to support them to make their exchange a wonderful experience, one where we can all grow together.
